Professional Class Instruments

This is the class where it mostly happens for contemporary main stream musicians. From the moment you pick up a Professional Class Bob Druett Instrument, put it to your mouth in the "play" position and swing it about as you would during a performance. You will notice the ease with which you can move the instrument. You will also notice the weight bias of a Professional Class Bob Druett Instrument which tells you straight away that this instrument was designed and crafted so as to be able to be played seated, standing or moving.

Bob Druett Professional Class Instruments are typically lighter than the other two classes. This class of instrument has many attributes, not the least being playability.

That is, when you first arrived on stage, feeling just a wee bit nervous, the last thing a performer needs is an instrument that is not easy to play.

Professional musicians depend on their instruments to make a living, so therefore, their instruments "must" be easy and safe to play and have no bad habits under all conditions.

Things like : drone blow out when you put a lot of pressure on it, horns badly spaced and not precise, no mid range, etc, etc, ... These sort of bad habits are just not acceptable from a Bob Druett Professional Class Instrument.

Although, sweet timbre of sound and perfect clarity are some of the points strived for, they are not mandatory in a Bob Druett Professional Class Instrument, but range of sound, safe horns, clarity and ease of vocals are.

Concert Class Instruments

Bob Druett Concert Class Instruments don't really have a weight restriction, as mostly, these instruments are played in the seated position on stage or in the recording studio.

With Concert Class it is mandatory that the instrument be clear and precise. One of the reasons being, sound engineers can introduce as much fuzz as anybody could possibly want, but it is not possible to take that same fuzz out (not yet anyway).

Because of the style of music played on Concert Class Instruments, it is preferable that these instruments have a wide range of sound, and the timbre of that sound be full and pleasing to the ear. Both when miked up and when played acoustically.

Master Class Instruments

This is the class were range of sound, timbre and quality of that sound take priority over everything else.

As a craftman, it is important to have the freedom to leave more timber at certain points along the instrument to enhance the particular quality of sound than it is to have the instrument perfectly balanced and or really easy to play like the Professional Class.

In this class, to attain a particular color of sound, it sometime become necessary that playability take second place to sound quality.

This is the class that, when you are an master player, you will have access to a range and quality of sounds that is just not possible in any other class.
